Meet the Buyer 2018

Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford Councils – the STAR Procurement Councils – are hosting a joint Meet the Buyer event at Rochdale Town Hall on Thursday 22nd November 2018.  It will give suppliers across STAR Council areas and the wider Greater Manchester economy, the opportunity to find out what opportunities exist for supplying to local government, education, housing and health services within the STAR Council boroughs.  It will also provide a unique opportunity to interact with these organisations, including STAR Procurement.

Councillor Allen Brett, Leader of Rochdale Council (the host Council), said “We’re really keen to use local suppliers wherever possible and recently launched a buy local campaign with this in mind. Buying local supports the local economy and jobs and that’s why developing local supply chains is so important to us.  Helping our local businesses grow and develop is a key priority for the council and I would encourage businesses to attend the event if they provide the goods or services that the organisations are looking for.”

Suppliers will be able to take advantage of workshops delivered by STAR Procurement which will focus on aspects of the tendering process relevant to the public sector.  More information in respect of these workshops – including some regional workshops that will be hosted in the lead-up to the Meet the Buyer event itself, will be published on the Meet the Buyer website in the forthcoming days.

If you are a local business looking to provide supplies, services or construction works to the STAR Councils, this event is aimed at you.  Follow the links on the dedicated Meet the Buyer website for more information and to book an appointment for a one-to-one meeting with one or more of the buying teams.
